作者：英国奥斯汀
简·奥斯汀出生于英国乡村小镇史蒂文顿，父亲是位学问渊博的牧师，母亲出身于比较富有的家庭，也具有一定的文化修养。因此，奧斯汀虽然没有上过正规学校，但是家庭的优良条件和读书环境给她提供了自学的便利，培养了她写作的兴趣。她先后创作了6部长篇小说，是英国最早发表现实主义小说的女作家。奥斯汀以女性特有的细致笔触，轻松诙谐地描绘了乡间中产阶级的绅士淑女间的婚姻爱情故事。她的作品语言清新，富有戏剧性冲突，深受读者欢迎，在英国小说发展史上具有承上启下的意义。代表作有《傲慢与偏见》、《理智与情感》、《爱玛》等。

vent to their feelings of vexation, lamenting over such an
unlooked-for premature arrival as a mostunto ward event, and
without mercy wishing poor Sir Thomas had beentwice as long on his
passage, or were still in Antigua.
