本教材作为人民大学非英语专业硕士研究生“英语中国”改革项目的重要阶段性成果，以法学、政治学专业的硕士研究生为主要教学对象，以听说训练为基础，培养学生用英语讲述与自己专业有关的当代中国现象，并对这些现象进行较专业的分析和评论。本教材在全新的编辑视角和选材的基础上，立足现在中国大学（特别是中国人民大学）的硕士研究生现状，以学生自己的专业为切入点和突破口，既有现实的考量，也有培养学生相关思维方式的权衡。 本书共16个单元，可供一个学期的听说课教学使用。每个单元分为四个部分：Pre-listening Questions（通过对一些相关问题的探讨，引入单元主题）；Listening Practice （通过两篇法政类英语中国主题文章的听力，学生完成多种类型的练习，形成一定的信息输入，为后面的演讲进行铺垫）；Speaking Practice （先小组讨论，后单独发言，就相关问题阐明立场）；Presentation Skills （供学生课下阅读，针对展示的一些共性问题和技巧进行讲解）；Test (通过测验，对本单元所学内容进行巩固)。

| 關於作者： |
|
陈影，博士，副教授，硕士生导师。从事研究生英语教学14年。曾任教于北京语言大学外国语学部，现任职于中国人民大学外国语学院。近五年教授的课程主要有非英语专业本科英语精读、本科英语专业语音、硕士英语专业专业课、博士学术英语、硕士英语等。学生数量每个学期大致100人左右。 主持北京语言大学教改项目5项（结项）、主持中国人民大学研究生英语教改项目1项（法政类英语中国改革负责人，在研）。教育部学位论文评审专家；获得北京市青年英才项目。
