《非母语英语教师的职业认同发展研究》作者为北京大学外国语学院外国语言学及应用语言学研究所助理教授、博士生导师郑萱，其主要研究领域为外语教育和跨文化交际。

本著作基于一项民族志研究，细致、深入地描绘了在美国大学英语系求学的国际学生学习成长为英语教师的艰辛历程。在“母语者迷思”——即“理想的英语教师是母语者”——的影响下，本书跟踪记录并分析了三位国际学生在不同时空的语言学习、专业学习和教学经历中，如何理解自己在异国的非母语/母语身份，协商认同发展中的冲突，将自己的独特身份资源转化为优势并付诸教学实践，进而成长为一名优秀的大学英语写作课教师。基于相关研究，本书对未来针对在异国的非母语英语教师的研究，以及国内外语教师的语言与职业认同发展提出了建议。
全书分为七章：第一章为绪论；第二章是文献综述和理论基础；第三章为研究方法介绍；第四章则以Bo、Ming 和Sara三位留学生为例，记录介绍了他们从国际学生转变为英语教师的成长过程；第五章介绍了这三位老师如何成为优秀的英语写作教师；第六章重点阐述了他们的双语身份如何影响他们的课堂教学；第七章为全书总结以及这些理论的应用。
